  2. I have found myself!

    ReplyDelete
  3. I'm ready to roll! Actually, I'll be back and ready to roll at 6:00.

    ReplyDelete
  4. To begin my dialogue tonight I want to apologize for leaving early on Saturday. In my stupidity, I thought I locked my keys in the car, only to learn that I had left them in the on position and had to have AAA jump my battery. This led to the warning to drive the car home and not turn it off.

You were all doing well and i knew you didn't need me, but I would have liked to have stayed around.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I'm just glad Saturday is over!

    ReplyDelete
  6. Sheila, did you get my email about my IRRB papers?

    ReplyDelete
  7. no one really cares about your IRRB papers. you should have done them right the first time

    ReplyDelete
  8. yes, Jesse and all it off in the post. Thank you for leading the long session on Saturday. I do know what you took on, or were forced into. You did a great job and they wanted more. Maybe my advertising scared some off, but if they were focused on other things, that's ok.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Maybe they were waiting for People magazine to show up

    ReplyDelete
  10. Kristen is on her way...her internet has failed at home and she's headed to Starbucks to drink away her sorrows

    ReplyDelete
  11. Let's do an agenda. What do you want to talk about?

    ReplyDelete
  12. I would like some good APA resources. Too late for a book. Any good websites other than Son of Citation?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Absolutely! How about a short debrief of Saturday?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Jess, Kristen has an extra writers handbook she can loan you next week...will that work?

    ReplyDelete
  15. What exactly do you want turned in with our article submissions? Just our submission? Communication with the editors?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Saturday....I think it went really well, even if some people didn't participate. Our group really pulled it together.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I'm on phone with Kristen right now

    ReplyDelete
  18. Yes. That would be great. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Is Claire having trouble getting on???

    ReplyDelete
  20. Has anyone heard from Claire or Helen? Chris and Linda said they would be late from picking up Morgan, I think.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Kristen just got there and she's trying to log on

    ReplyDelete
  22. Is everybody on, except maybe the Brantley's?

    ReplyDelete
  23. I think Saturday went well too. The other group was having the same issues. I am glad they all turned out to be nice. Where's Jen G. and Pat.

    ReplyDelete
  24. No Claire. No Helen. No Jen G. No Pat.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Did Chris ever talk to you, Sheila about next week? He was going to ask you last Saturday if we could have dinner at his school again since Morgan is in a play there that night...he wanted to ask you if we could have class at his school again and see Morgan in her play that night

    ReplyDelete
  26. I think that was May 12th.

    ReplyDelete
  27. If all agree, I am for seeing M in the school play on the 12th.

    ReplyDelete
  28. With communication between the groups. We were frustrated and started to plan the session and they were doing the same thing. Thinking back, we should have gotten phones #'s and called each other or blogged.

    ReplyDelete
  29. It seems like a very nice thing to support Chris, Linda and Morgan this way

    ReplyDelete
  30. Oh my goodness, I made it! Hallelujah, praise Jesus! I would go back and catch up on the conversation but then I'll miss the rest.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I don't think it's next Tuesday, I think it's the following week. And it's fine with me.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I would love to see Morgan's play. If it happens to be during class, I guess I won't throw a fit.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Again... pretty sure it is on the 12th instead of the 5th. You guys be glad Helen isn't on here or you would have already confused her!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Kristen, if it's too upsetting to miss some of class we'll all play "hotel" with you to calm you down

    ReplyDelete
  35. Judes, you know just how to soothe my worries. And you're right. It's nothin a good dose of "hotel" wouldn't cure.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Miss class! Oh how could we? What I am interested in is supporting the completion of your papers and hearing about your independent study. I don't want to miss Morgan's play. Of course I know how much you all want to be in our traditional class!!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I have a paper question. If I am putting title pages or introductions between my pages, how do I do that and not have them page numbered?

    ReplyDelete
  38. I made it! Pat and I were on the wrong one--the one Danna accessed earlier! Then my computer froze and I had to start again. Just read comments. Caught up. Where's the agenda?

    ReplyDelete
  39. I have a question about how to present my independent study stuff-it was a Bible study and I don't want to be preachy

    ReplyDelete
  40. Pat's still working on her account.

    ReplyDelete
  41. don't blame me for being on the wrong page

    ReplyDelete
  42. So far, the agenda is Saturday debrief, Morgan's May 12 play, and papers.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Am simultaneously blogging, working on paper, and eating a whole rotisserie chicken

    ReplyDelete
  44. I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by switching to Geico. And, Marie sent me my Term 2 response which was lovely.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Judy, you will need to bring a pulpit( is that how you spell it?) to class.

    ReplyDelete
  46. life doesn't get much better than that

    ReplyDelete
  47. I wonder if my response will be addressed to Karen?

    ReplyDelete
  48. I thought Saturday went well...am so glad it's over...wished more people would have heard our presentations...we clean up well

    ReplyDelete
  49. Does anyone have a fold up pulpit? How about Sheila's easel?

    ReplyDelete
  50. I wish there was an opportunity for us to see what other presentations were going on. I liked it better when there were sessions to choose from.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I give Saturday 2 thumbs up but was disturbed that People magazine didn't show up for the presentation.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I left my easel at East Bay, I fear it is gone forever.

    ReplyDelete
  53. It was rescued by Jen...so was your poster

    ReplyDelete
  54. Don't worry Sheila. We've got your back!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Sheila, you had mentioned before that you maybe have a sample title page? Is that possible to get my hands on so I know I'm setting it up correctly? Also, does it matter where our Term I and II responses are? Should they be in the beginning or end?

    ReplyDelete
  56. I froze again. Pat's still having trouble. It won't accept her account even though she's reset it a couple of times. I'm just glad Saturday is over. How long is the play?

    ReplyDelete
  57. You are wonderful for looking after me! God knows someone has to!

I will put it on here.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I think your term 1 and 2 responses are suppose to go in the beginning

    ReplyDelete
  59. We have to include the term 1 and 2 resposes from Marie?

    ReplyDelete
  60. Jen G, you need to come join me at Starbucks. My internet's not working either and I feel like a looser all alone. I look like I'm in a chat room or something.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Whoooaah there...Did I leave the room and get nominated to "look after Shiela"? Damn it. I knew I should never leave the room again.

    ReplyDelete
  62. How nice that the term II responses are coming in--except for mine!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Kristin--my internet is actually working fine; it's this web page. I've had to restart twice. I'm sick as a dog and staying in bed, otherwise I'd come join you. You should call Pat and tell her to come there. She's not having success!

    ReplyDelete
  64. No honey, I was just making a reference to your question about including our responses from Marie.

    ReplyDelete

  66. Do you want you come over? Nevermind...I have TB (not really) and am still coughing up a storm...don't want baby Spangles to get sick in mommy's tummy

    ReplyDelete
  67. Also Sheila, Chris said that he thought there were some changes to what the master Marie wanted on the front? compared to what you previously told us. Is this true?

    ReplyDelete
  68. Oh, I was being all loving and compassionate and you were busy slandering me...no more iced cappafraps for you

    ReplyDelete
  69. Chris is here now - I was on the other blog for a while - it took me a while to realize I was alone

    ReplyDelete
  70. Jude--maybe you have Swine flu!

    ReplyDelete
  71. I think that's a country western song

    ReplyDelete
  72. Jenn G--
What do you mean by "master on the front"?

    ReplyDelete
  73. Chris, how can you put title pages in the body of your paper and nor have them page numbered?

    ReplyDelete
  74. There is a header that Marie wants when you send her your paper. i will go out to the car and get it. Don't mind that I have not been able to walk for two days, anything for my babies!!

    ReplyDelete
  75. I surely hope not although based on my student population I wouldn't be surprised...maybe I contracted it during the bite incident of 2009

    ReplyDelete
  76. Great question! I was wondering the same.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Babies!???
Oh crap, does that mean all of my issues are genetic?
    Thanks a lot Sheila.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Jen D...can you just type them separately and stick them in where needed?

    ReplyDelete
  79. jude when is your book coming out

    ReplyDelete
  80. I was thinking the same as Judes. I'll probably just do that for simplicity sake.

    ReplyDelete
  81. except if we are send it to Marie electronically. That wouldn't work then.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Judy, I'm concerned for when we have to send them to Marie and have the final copy on a disc, it won't be a complete paper then.

    ReplyDelete
  83. My reference to Master was for Marie! The front meaning the cover of the paper. My mind is fried. I think Jude wiped her bite germs all over me. Yes, I want to know about the numbered pages as well. Keep asking Jen and we might find out!

    ReplyDelete
  84. It would automatically number them when you try to insert them, i'm pretty sure.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Do you think Marie would notice if I numbered with the following system?
    1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 47, 48, 49 ??

    ReplyDelete
  86. oops, she wrote it on the bottom of my program and it is not in my car. I will email her tomorrow and get it. It's so she can keep track of your paper when you email it to her. I am sorry.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Maybe Chris has an answer to our numbering?

    ReplyDelete
  88. Hello Everyone! Beautiful day...despite my migraine. What is new?

    ReplyDelete
  89. Maybe in formatting, you could format page, then unformat, then reformat?, etc?

    ReplyDelete
  90. For you Jess, she would overlook it.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Danna--did you forget how anal we are?

    ReplyDelete
  92. Jennifer - once you have the paper completed - go to header and footer and put the required info in the header (Last name & Page number) then go to document & under the layout tab - you can select different 1st page header - no header will appear on page 1

    ReplyDelete
  93. I'm not sure on the page numbering thing. I haven't messed with it yet. I'll let you know if I figure something out.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Keep your title pages separate from the body of your paper and insert them after the numbering. Right now, I am more concerned about the content of your work.

    ReplyDelete
  95. You're an hour late! That's what's new!
(I'm just kidding Hel. I had more pea soup tonight. It's the pea soup talking.)

    ReplyDelete
  96. I'm so confused electronically...what will Marie do if it's wrong? I didn't think about the disc thingy

    ReplyDelete
  97. Yeah Pat! You will probably have to keep hitting refresh when you are not talking alot!

    ReplyDelete
  98. I can show everyone at next class if needed - you have different headers on the even and odd pages as well

    ReplyDelete
  99. It took forever to get the account and password.
Is Chris going to help us set up our papers?

    ReplyDelete
  100. I'll try that chris, would you do the same thing for pages inside the paper you do not want #.

    ReplyDelete
  101. What if the header pages had numbers? Is it a big deal? Maybe it is, I just tend not to worry about stuff. Maybe I should be more professional.

    ReplyDelete
  102. yes but it depends on what they are and how you are formatting them

    ReplyDelete
  103. I think a class lesson would be beneficial.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Kris, you and I will be sent to paper purgatory

    ReplyDelete
  105. It looks like a recycling sign. Mine is blue!

    ReplyDelete
  106. putting headers on and page numbers can be done in a few minutes - don't worry about that now - get the paper set up first

    ReplyDelete
  107. Top left. It's that curly arrow to the left of your address bar. You won't get this message until you find that button.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Pat, Refresh on my computer is F5. Go to the view section on your toolbar and it should tell you what refresh is.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Do you have a good recipe for us?

    ReplyDelete
  110. I agree with the class lesson, also when the time comes maybe we could go in on getting our papers bound together.

    ReplyDelete
  111. I think we need to find out how much time needs to be allotted to getting them bound and where?

    ReplyDelete
  112. I agree - we should all have the format similar to each other - it will make it easier for Marie - I can give a lesson next class with a handout

    ReplyDelete
  113. Do I have to post a comment or push refresh to see the continuing conversation? That is annoying.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Pats...that sounds good...anything we can do together is better (I think that's an ancient saying)

    ReplyDelete
  115. Yes dear Helen! It's just a click away!

    ReplyDelete
  116. I'm having personal issues. Cigarette smoke and a very full bladder. (TMI) I don't know how much longer I can take sitting here.

    ReplyDelete
  117. That would be so helpful - I love you too, Judy

    ReplyDelete
  118. remember there is safety in numbers

    ReplyDelete
  119. We have to get our papers back first...

    ReplyDelete
  120. Sure, Chris...A lesson about numbering and format?
How about wrapping text around pictures? I wouldn't mind a refresher course.

    ReplyDelete
  121. kristin, you should really go if you need to. think of that little girl

    ReplyDelete
  122. Hey I got the refreshing down! (yes, it's annoying)

    ReplyDelete
  123. And maybe even our term II responses!

    ReplyDelete
  124. How about what your paper says, or do I repeat myself?

    ReplyDelete
  125. that can be done - you can wrap text around pictures by going to the format menu for that particular picture - it can be shown in class in a few minutes as well

    ReplyDelete
  126. Thanks Chris for offering to help...did you see the comments about Morgan's play? sheila said we could have class at your school and go to the play!!

    ReplyDelete
  127. Ok Sheila, what are you getting at?

    ReplyDelete
  128. Does what our paper say count? Wow, there were some good papers that I saw on Saturday. That was nice..wide variety.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Sheila, From my term II paper, you had said to only use two different fonts. I used three. Is it ok to do a handwriting font for journal entries or should I just italicize it?

    ReplyDelete
  130. what do you mean "what your paper says"

    ReplyDelete
  131. Too bad, we can't skype - I like seeing everyone

    ReplyDelete
  132. Hey Sheila...
How many pages does it need to be? :-)

    ReplyDelete
  133. yes..how do you want journal entries?

    ReplyDelete
  134. Skyping is nice cause we don't have to refresh.

    ReplyDelete
  135. technically, the paper should be one font - all entries, quotes, etc are handled differently depending on the MLA, APA atyle

    ReplyDelete
  136. My chicken is finished...I'm moving on to the next course

    ReplyDelete
  137. I like the journal entries having a different font - it makes them look more authenic.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Sheila, I think it's hard to discuss what our paper says unless you have some guiding questions!

    ReplyDelete
  139. is there a preferred font for them?

    ReplyDelete
  140. Jen - that's true - I think it is hard to discuss on here - I hate refreshing

    ReplyDelete
  141. Pat--I'm so proud of you for not giving up! I know it's frustrating!

    ReplyDelete
  142. OK
How are you handling the analysis of your data? Are you communicating what you have learned, how you learned it, and what message it has for other teachers?

    ReplyDelete
  143. Pat I am with you. I don't remeber this refreshing part at all..crazy. There is no continuity.

    ReplyDelete
  144. font should be easy to read and reduce eye fatigue - times roman, courier, or a serif type font - 12 point in size

    ReplyDelete
  145. Danna must complete 300 pages (she has worked to eliminate a few) the rest of you must take as many pages as it takes to tell your story.

    ReplyDelete
  146. Data--I'm getting very specific with percentages and putting it into some chart (undecided which kind)to show progress.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Helen, there is no continuity? This should be a cinch for you to follow!

    ReplyDelete
  148. Sheila, I feel that some of my information is redundent, so I am trying to pick out what is most informative. I don't know if its enough.

    ReplyDelete
  149. jenn use one that is easy to read - it can be many different forms

    ReplyDelete
  150. If Danna has 300 pages I shall have 301. It is my life's goal to one-up her.

    ReplyDelete
  151. You can check redundancy by having others read your work. We should do a lot of this in the next few weeks.

    ReplyDelete
  152. thanks sheila, i'm glad to hear i've knocked off a few pages. thanks for the support, you're the best

    ReplyDelete
  153. Chris--any suggestions? I was thinking of either using a bar graph or a pie chart?

    ReplyDelete
  154. When you put your data into charts/tables, Marie made a suggestion to really walk your reader through it as if they cannot read the table for yourself. She told me not to assume the reader would understand. Make it very clear.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Sheila, my data is in checklist form (determining the likelihood of Asperger's) I don't plan on graphing it...I'm analyzing it and trying techniques to work with the boys whether or not they are diagnosed

    ReplyDelete
  156. Jen Gula-use the most obvious chart or whatever, to display your data. More emphasis on the analysis and less on the data-up to a point.

    ReplyDelete
  157. I will gladly read completed or almost completed papers on Tuesday! Anyone done? Claire?

    ReplyDelete
  158. I like pie charts the best but bar graphs work well for some types of data - you can put the info in Excel and then create two charts, then pick the best one

    ReplyDelete
  159. Jude, no need to graph, you can present the check list and put the data in the body of your writing.

    ReplyDelete
